The Turnabout Voicetest
This is a voice test for Phoenix Wright of Ace Attorney fame! Feel free to throw people here.
Some general guidelines:
-I'm primarily testing him with a Dual Destinies canon point. I still am welcoming of a few prompts for earlier time periods and possibly AUs, though, as long as they don't dominate. (Except that I don't think I can brain Hobo!Phoenix at this time)
-Nothing really explicitly shippy; I don't think I even have any shipping preferences with him just yet. But general fluff is fine.
-I'm not exactly sure about specific kinds of scenarios I'd like to play beyond one: working to unlock someone's Psych-Locks? And maybe emotional canon talks.
-Feel free to plunder the Random Scenario Meme for ideas (Leaving out sex of course)? I also welcome generic jamjar scenarios and text message threads.
Court is now in session!

It was meant to be a surprise, so Apollo didn't know. He wasn't due back for a little while; also part of the plan, in order to get his friend Clay caught up on things.
When it was time for the channeling, Phoenix had been told to keep out of the room to let Pearl concentrate, only coming in when he heard Clay's voice. Which he will definitely hear, just a few minutes later, when a voice very unlike Pearl's yells out loudly:]
AAAHHHHHH!
[Guess who didn't read the note Pearl left to help him figure out what's going on.]
1/2
Phoenix Wright comes into the room with a definitive hustle. Could something have happened to Pearls? But nothing seems to be wrong aside from seeing the dead guy screaming. And that's enough to make Phoenix mirror him for a moment.]
AAAAAHHHHHH!
no subject
Mister Terran, please calm down!
[Ground control to Major Terran...]
no subject
AAAAHHHHHH!
[Clay is, of course, in Pearl's clothes, with her haircolor and style, back against the wall as if he flung himself across the floor in shock rather than stay put like he should have. Sure, he was still a very restless spirit who wasn't used to being dead, but he certainly wasn't expecting to suddenly be physical, and in someone else's clothes and -
And - Wait...
This guy's familiar. Sort of. He'd never met him before, but he's seen enough pictures, read enough headlines, heard his best friend talk about him so often, and even seen him in the few times he went to the courtroom itself to know who it is. It's that realizes that makes his own scream die down, though he still looks shaken at the very least.]
M... Mister Wright?

Well, Phoenix Wright, you are not safe.
Not even in whatever office you're in at this very moment because Franziska von Karma, prosecuting prodigy, just slammed the door open and is looking for blood. She's actually looking for that lout, Gumshoe, but hey, Phoenix Wright is a convenient scapegoat, isn't he?]
Phoenix Wright. I thought I sensed some foolishness about this case when it came to my desk. I should have known you were behind it.
no subject
One of these days I'll have to look into finding a way to make the office whip-proofed...]
Good morning to you too, Franziska... I'm afraid you have me at loss, though. What kinds of foolishness have I been up to this time?
no subject
[Franziska doesn't waste a moment in showing her disdain, folding her arms over her chest. The office is much too small for her tastes. Where does one put the 78 inch plasma display for working case files? It would hardly fit on the walls here. How sad.]
And how should I know what your fool brain is capable of piecing together? Only a fool can understand another fool. [Which is why she is here looking for Gumshoe. He is late and lost as usual, which made the little vein in Franziska's forehead want to twitch with annoyance. Instead, she grips one sleeve and frowns.] Where is he?

Phoenix glances between the television and Athena curiously. What is it they say about life imitating art?]
Slow down, Athena. It's okay. We still have some time to spare, and I've been looking over everything we know so far. We're not doomed yet. [That part comes later.]

Phoenix not being up to day with technology, it was one of those old bulky ones with a built in VCR.
Give her a moment to catch her breath and actually be able to eat her toast.]

[AA5 spoiler warning just in case?]
Point is, the Phantom's on the loose and would be halfway to Mexico by now if his real face wasn't registered in every criminal databank.
What's also problematic is that he doesn't want to walk around with his real face out in the open. It feels unnatural. It feels wrong. He doesn't know who this person is. It's like being a complete stranger. That's why he went out of his way to retrieve a spare mask from one of his secret hideouts. He had only one mask left. It's another face that'll draw unwanted attention, but it's preferable to no face at all. All he needs is to get some supplies so he can craft a new mask, one he can use to cross the border and disappear into the masses of another country. Some latex, colored lenses, a convincing wig he can use for hair... Really, he's done this so many times he can dream it and he knows exactly which stores to visit to get what he needs.
Bobby Fulbright is making his way down the street. He's moving a little slower than he usually would because, well, he was shot last week. He lost a lot of blood back then and it still hasn't quite healed. Even so, he'll move through the pain if it means escaping death row and endless questioning from Interpol. He's trying to keep to himself, avoiding people as he passes them.
Gee, wouldn't it be awful if someone who knows that Bobby Fulbright is supposed to be dead happens to spot him?]
no subject
Fulbright. A wave of fear and apprehension falls over him; it's essentially like looking at a ghost, especially now that he knows the true Fulbright's fate. But when it comes down to it, this man's a criminal who absolutely cannot be allowed to walk free. And until any actual police end up in the area, Phoenix is the only one who can see him. The attorney tries to covertly make a beeline towards the Phantom, his stomach sinking as he does so. Here they go again...]
no subject
Just for a split second, he experiences something unpleasant. Just for a split second, his mind makes the connection from lawyer to courtroom to being forced to face fear to getting shot. That breakdown did a real number on him. Now that he's had a taste of fear, he knows for a fact he doesn't want to experience it again. The unpleasant feeling is hastily suppressed. He can't allow some simple lawyer to get the best of him. He's better than that. He's the Phantom.
...No, he's not the Phantom. He's Bobby Fulbright. Who else would he be?
He tries to pretend he didn't see Phoenix, speeding up his pace. His best line of defense, right now, is to play the fool. To become the fool. Quite a few cover stories are already spinning inside his head. Cover stories that will become truths, because he needs to believe it in order to be it.]

That case certainly went as well as I expected, Wright. I suppose I should thank you again.
[A sheet of paper suddenly slips out from the stack he's organizing, and it flutters to the floor.]
no subject
It was a team effort, Edgeworth. I wouldn't have been able to figure out the real scene of that murder if you hadn't pushed me. [To put it lightly. Let's leave out the part where I only made it by the skin of my teeth.
He blinks as the paper falls and reaches to catch it.]
I've got it. [And now to hand it back to the grump.]
no subject
[Whatever happened to being thankful, Edgeworth?
At least all he does when part of his file falls is nod and accept the paper from Phoenix. No more additional banter there. However, in doing so, he uses the hand with the Chinese finger trap - and it locks onto Phoenix's finger as well.]

Definitely.
But things are not all fun and games! With Athena determined to bring a breath of fresh air into the courtrooms, she wanted to discuss and teach psychology to her peers. At the same time, she wanted to learn more about her boss' and colleague's and how their minds worked. It would help a lot with team chemistry, amongst other things. They all already worked well together; Athena knew that, but an activity like practicing detecting lies seemed like a good idea in theory. Not to mention, she could sure learn more about Apollo's bracelet or her boss' magatama - or whatever it was called. It was slightly difficult to pronounce.
Athena even suggested coming up with fake scenarios where they would portray made-up people with made-up problems. She already had her character ready, and was excited to act it out!
Except... ]
Apollo sure is late today, boss.
no subject
Still, he was interested in Athena's potential and what she could bring to the table with her psychological techniques. This whole fake scenario idea sounded like a good exercise, and he was looking forward to it. But what could be keeping Apollo?
Phoenix nods thoughtfully at Athena.]
He is. It's not like him. [He doubts it's serious though - maybe making a joke will help cement that!] Think he tripped over his Chords of Steal?
no subject
Ugh, you think?
[ The lack of punctuality was dampening Athena's mood. She was really excited for this day, especially since they haven't had much actual cases lately. Helping out with Trucy's acts did not count, nor did finding that missing dog the other day. It would have been nice to apply some actual logic to things at work. ]
Do you want to start without him? We can just give him a hard time later and lie five hundred and fifty-two times.

phoenix may hear a small knock at the agency's door. there won't be anyone there when he opens it (though he may see a bit of pearl's pretzel sticking out from behind a corner somewhere), but there will be a note expertly taped to the door in... not so neat handwriting. if he reads it, he will surely be in for a surprise: ]
Dear
Mr.Nick,I just want to tell you I think you are the most hansom man ever and that I would like to mary you one day and have a family with you too. I cant wait to see you again.
From, Mystic Maya
no subject
I can't say I've ever gotten an offer to 'mary' like this...
[But remembering how it was delivered, he knows the true culprit can't be far off. He glances around quickly until he sees the telltale pretzel. Now he's quietly strolling over to find the young girl.]

Might have case 5 DD spoilers. I guess.
As he was making his way out of the office, his luck takes a turn for the worse as he suddenly felt a sharp pain throughout his body. He found himself on the ground a moment later. Apparently his miraculous recovery weren't quite that miraculous. Now that he wasn't concentrating on winning a trial, his body was reminding him how exhausted he really was after pushing himself.]
[Argh, come on! I can't miss out on all the celebrating!]
[Apollo managed to get himself onto the couch, but that was about it. Hopefully, just sitting on the couch for a bit will help him and he could join the others soon. He pulled out his phone and thought for a moment that maybe he should call Mr.Wright that he would be a little late, but then he probably wonder what was going on. But even if he didn't tell him, he would call anyway. Ugh, it's a lose-lose situation, and the last thing he wanted to do was to have people worry about him after winning an important trial. With a sigh, he decided to just call him.]

Phoenix was waiting for the first round of order to arrive at Eldoon's when he heard his very distinctive ringtone going off. One quick look at the screen - it's Apollo - and he quickly answers.]

[ It's not every day Trucy gets to drag Phoenix out places, now that he's, you know. Working again. Not that he didn't work before, but when Phoenix just played poker and piano for a living, he had a lot more spare time for his adopted daughter. Not that Trucy had any complaints at all on that: she liked to keep busy and she was thrilled her father was doing what he loved. The fact their schedules were less open was a sad side effect, but a surmountable one.
It just made family outings all the more enjoyable and looked-forward to.
Currently the "outing" was more like "dragging Phoenix shopping", but surely that was just part of having a teenage daughter...
Though admittedly most teenage daughters probably were pointing out clothes shops rather than magic shops and joke shops. Oh, well. Trucy is happy enough tugging Phoenix's arm and leading him into the latest, nearly bouncing. ]
Should we get something for Polly, as long as we're out?
no subject
Phoenix chuckles softly as she guides him to their next stop.]
We could! You're the boss today, Trucy. [Today on "famous last words..."] Do you have anything in mind that he can use? [He expects the answer to be more amusing than anythig else.]
