[ She shrugs, feeling a little sheepish now about the situation. ]
We were given a couple of free days after really digging into some good subjects. I was going to use them to study the course again. [ Third time's a charm, right? ] My counselor suggested to do something other than that.
So, I decided maybe we could do this?
[ Since it's been forever and a day and three states away. ]

He does pull back as he listens to her, while also reaching for the pizza box and drink carrier to lighten her load. His face brightens.]
Really? That's great! I like the way your counselor thinks. [He says with a smile. In the past, he might've worried too much about distracting Connie from her studies. But he's in a better place now, so he can acknowledge that it's a Good Thing for them to just hang out together now. He doesn't have to feel guilty about it. Well, there might be twinges of guilt left here and there, but he won't let that drive him. Not when Connie's right here with him.]
After all, I- [He blushes slightly.] I'm really happy to see you again, Connie. [With that, he leans forward to press a gentle peck to her lips.]

A similar blush crosses her cheeks. That moment when everything goes right and there's a cherry on top of it all! She returns the small kiss, the touch making her smile feel uncontrollable. ]
I'm happy to see you too, Steven.
[ Letting the moment sit, savor it while it's still there, Connie's eye catches the open suitcase. ]
Let's sit and eat. [ Lion take the opportunity to claim the suitcase as a bed. ] I can help you unpack afterward.

[After a moment more, he pulls back to set down the pizza box on the drinks on the nearby table.]

[ She hands Steven a paper plate before filling up her own. Her smile won't go down now that they're actually together again. ]

Steven goes starry eyed at the mention of the fish sticks! He accepts the plate and quickly fills it, even trying to stick some of the fish sticks onto a slice!]

[He giggles as he sits down and sets his phone out on the table between them, with the image gallery open. Full of pictures of sunsets and other landmarks, with some including selfies of Steven!]

[ Yes, she does have a sneaky smile right before biting into her slice. The first picture has her scooting closer for the slideshow. Diamond eyes at a gorgeous sunset.
Before she can tell him, the next pic slides up. ]
Oh my gosh. Steven! [ But not even Connie can sound too scolding at the sight of her boyfriend angling a picture so he's picking the nose of one of the faces on a mountainside. Nah, she can't last at all before busting out. ] Hahaha!
[ Not the most proper thing to do when chewing, but she's happy enough with him to not care just then. ]

What? I'm performing a valued civil service in that picture! [He jokingly protests, holding a hand to his chest. His grin only grows wider and wider, because darn if he hasn't missed that laugh.] Just making sure that the statesman does 'snot' have any problems!

[ There might be a color of embarrassment and contained laughter rising in her cheeks. ]

Yeah, but... it still smelled like something was up! [He has to throw that one in too. And as she looks at her, flushed and smiling, he also goes on to say-] I missed this.

Steven. [ Her hand finds it way on top of his. ] I missed this too. I'm really glad we can have time together right now.
[ Only the tiniest amount of nervousness in her voice. ]

[He delicately mutters that much, before he swallows his mouthful. And then he finds more words, as he scoots his seat closer to hers.]
...I've been learning a lot from my trip, and it's been helping me to feel better. But that doesn't change how happy I can feel just... just from hanging around with you, eating junk food and making you laugh. [A soft chuckle.] It's a great vacation from my vacation.

I get it. You have a lot of important studies that you have to keep on top of! But, I do appreciate every last second that you make for me too. So I'm really happy this happened now.
[He doesn't want to get in the way of Connie's academic journey. But he also now knows that he can and should make his own feelings known, without trying to force Connie any which way. He giggles as her fingers tap his hand.]
