[ There's chess players that might be jealous of how carefully Connie scoots closer too. There's butterflies in her stomach from hearing that and for some reason it feels like they might make her stumble at the slightest movement. ]

Maybe I should have taken a break sooner.

You can make me laugh anytime, Steven. [ She grins and fiddles her fingers against the side of his palm. ] But only if it's a good one.

[Yeah, it's starting to feel like he doesn't even need to be subtle about the sidling. Why even bother starting off on opposite ends of the table, when he'll end up gently pressing his shoulders against Connie's and offering her a gentle smile between bites of pizza.]

I get it. You have a lot of important studies that you have to keep on top of! But, I do appreciate every last second that you make for me too. So I'm really happy this happened now.

[He doesn't want to get in the way of Connie's academic journey. But he also now knows that he can and should make his own feelings known, without trying to force Connie any which way. He giggles as her fingers tap his hand.]
