Choose your character from the selection above! These are the characters I can most easily brain currently and/or am in the process of voicetesting. Other possible choices can be found at my muselist, although not all of the listed characters may be as readily available.
Name the character you want and either go right into a prompt or request a starter from me! Feel free to indicate any preferences of your own as well.
I'm open to a variety of scenarios, with my main limits being avoiding scenarios that are too extreme in terms of being bleak/graphic, and I also do not play smut, although adult content is otherwise still fine, as are scenarios that fade to black.
When it comes to shipping, I mostly lean towards play m/f or f/f or any characters with nb. I feel m/m less often but not off the table completely. Generally open to trying out both ships within canon or crosscanon pairings! Feel free to ask about a ship if you're unsure!
Options for prompts can be pulled from various memes such as the Random Scenario Meme and various other non-smut ones! Gen, adventure, comedy, some crack, angst, hurt/comfort, cuddling, romantic tension, being stuck in ridiculous scenarios, there's many possibilities. I do also love characters exploring dreams/mindscapes. And AUs can also be welcome! Including Pokemon and non-specific magical schools.
Darcy doesn't get it, but for some reason, the Astrophysical Journal has asked to do a piece on her now that she's the head of what used to be Jane's research. She'd agreed not because she wanted the fame for herself, but because she really wanted to make sure that Jane's legacy was remembered. Jane had done so much for her, and she wants to give this back to her.
Now she's waiting for the photographer to arrive before they head out for a week to take readings in New Mexico, going back to where it all began. They want photos of her with the area that Thor's hammer fell, and where Thor himself appeared. Darcy wants to go because her readings have indicated a strong anomaly in the area that she wants to study. She's already done the interview for the article and now all that's left are the photos of her in action.
She's sitting on the van's bumper when he comes into view and Darcy gives him a little wave. Standing up, she meets him on his way to the van. "Hi, I'm Darcy. You're Peter, right? Are you ready for science week?" She accompanies the words with jazz hands and a large grin. Hopefully he's as interested in science as she is.
Along comes one freelance photographer. He's probably most well-known for the Spider-Man photos he used to take for the Daily Bugle - and for doing some work of his own in the field of science. But he's left science behind him long ago, instead falling back on his freelance photography to keep paying the bill as he gets older, more jaded, apathetic and lazy.
Still, something about this seemed nostalgic. Covering an up-and-coming name in the field, covering Dr. Foster's work. He might be behind in a lot of scientific developments, but he still knew this was a big deal. Part of him almost felt bad for her. Ah, how exciting it seems before your dreams are crushed.
He definitely doesn't look dressed to be the one being photorgaphed. Slightly disheveled, with some stubble on his face and wearing a tall green coat over his clothes. Still, he manages a light smile while holding up his camera as if it's proof of his identity. "Right on the money. It's, uh, good to meet you!" he lets out a little chuckle, offering just a wave in response to her jazz hands. "Wow. You, you are really bringing the energy here. Look, science and me, we haven't exactly been on speaking terms for a bit here. But Mister Camera here? Oh, he sure is hyped to catch all theeee sciencey fun!"
He's really straining himself to sound enthusiastic about it. But he snaps a picture of her to punctuate that.
"Well, maybe we can change that," Darcy replies, dismissing Peter's admissions before posing for him quickly. She shoots him another grin as she starts to show him around what she's been working on. "I mean, I wasn't into science at all when I first met Jane. I was going to college for polisci," she explains. It really had been a big change for her when she'd decided to pursue astrophysics during the snap, but she doesn't regret it.
"So, what kinds of shots are we going for here? I assume not sexy since this is for a science magazine and not like, Penthouse." Sometimes Darcy should just keep her mouth shut but that rarely happens. "Not that I've ever done that kind of posing before. I'm more awkward than sexy, you know?" Honestly, she really just needs to be quiet.
But there are still things that she needs to know about the shoot. "Are you staying in the van with me? It's the best way to get the authentic experience of waking up in the middle of the night to gather data. Also, is there anything specific I should wear for this non Penthouse photoshoot?"
"Yeah, see, I don't know about that." Peter does give a little chuckle as he says that. He can appreciate her youthful enthusiasm for sure - and he can respect the inspiration that Jane Foster had on her. But he knows those days are behind him. "Trust me, appreciate the energy but I'm all scienced out for this lifetime. Just think of me like a talking camera if that helps my role sink in better, okay?"
She does do a lot of talking though! Peter ends up with a nervous smile as she goes on about sexiness and gives a little chuckle before trying to answer her. "No, no need to worry about, um, those kinds of posing!" The sexiness, that is. Not that she doesn't look attractive! But that's not the kind of shoot he's here for, and of course he knows she's joking so he jokes a long. "I'm not shooting for some Sports Illustrated Labcoat Edition or anything." He gives a wave of his hand.
"You just have to, you know, be yourself. Wear your normal clothes, or maybe science it up a bit if you want. I'll do a mix of snapping you while you work and doing some poses here and there. Thoughtful kinda poses, yeah? We'll work on it as we go along!"
She has raised another issue with the van thing. He hadn't really thought about where he'd be staying, and that part of him that can still feel shy does feel that way about sharing the confined space of the van with her. "What, like sleeping there? Iii don't know about that. I can definitely hang around for a while, maybe stay up late to get some more shots of your genius in action but going full sleepover sounds like it might be a bit much."
Darcy isn't so sure about that part, but she'll let it slide for now. She doesn't know Peter and maybe there are reasons behind his boycott of all things scientific. It's not like they're going to see each other again after this week. "Okay, suit yourself," she says, grin still in place across her lips.
"Is there a sports illustrated labcoat edition? Because I don't normally wear a lab coat but I'm sure I can rock one," Darcy ponders. "Maybe with like, an atom themed bikini underneath," she adds, laughing along with the joke.
But then the question of where they were all going to sleep comes back up. "Okay, that's cool. I have an extra tent, but we're going to be in the middle of nowhere for most of this shoot because my work mostly done at night, taking photos and readings. So I can sleep in the van and you can take the tent but there's not going to be like, an airbnb nearby for us to crash at. They didn't tell you this when you got the job brief?"
Somehow he doubts she'll let him off that easy, but he can feel relieved for now. At least she's not trying to shove science down his throat right away.
And joking about it is good at least. He gets a little chuckle out of the atom-themed bikini idea. "A bikini with atoms? Sounds like an idea you should table!" Because atomic table, get it?? "And no, I don't think it's real, or I'd be subscribed to it! Don't worry, this suit is lab coat optional." As if that's some type of dress code.
He looks a little more nervous as she brings up the brief! Because he might have skimmed it a little bit and not exactly gotten any detail Peter runs a hand through his hair. "Right. Right! I totally remember reading thoroughly and, and getting all of that. Late night! Nowhere! All that good stuff. I'm good with tents, that's great, practically a boy scout!" This is fine. It'll be fine, right?
Darcy turns a shocked face toward Peter and then she breaks out laughing. “Oh, my god,” she giggles, shaking her head. “That was so bad and also so amazing. I think we’re going to get along this week, Parker.” Even if it doesn’t sound like he’d actually read the job brief.
“If you can’t set it up, I can,” Darcy offers, kind of showing him around the equipment as she does so. They’ll have to get on the road soon if she wants to be in position for tonight, so once she’s showed him her stuff and told him what to absolutely in no way go near, she ushers him toward the passenger’s seat.
“Okay, so we’re about four hours from where my readings are telling me there might be some atmosphere action tonight, and then we’ll get into some really good stuff. You want anything from Starbucks?” She slides into the driver’s seat and starts the van up.
He goes give a slight proud smirk at her reaction. At least they're on a similar wavelength with bad jokes. "Yeah, it's nice to meet someone whose sense of humor is also busted."
He then waves off her offer of help, confident that he remembers how to set up a tent, and watches as she shows the equipment. Some of it does have him feeling a little curious, but he brushes away the feeling. He's here as a photographer, that's all.
Then he gives an impressed whistle at how long the drive will be. "We do have a drive ahead of us, so yeah, I could go for some Starbucks. I don't care what it is, as long as it caffeines me up for this!"
"Excuse you, I have a great sense of humour," Darcy replies, straight-faced. She cracks a smile after a moment, showing that she's teasing him. Darcy is generally pretty good at getting along with people, but it somehow feels easier with Peter. It bodes well for them having to spend so much time in close contact.
She nods to him and starts to drive toward Starbucks. "Honestly, I usually get myself something cold and hot for the drive, so that when I run out, there is still more caffeine to be had." Once at the window, she orders them a variety of drinks with the intention to share, and then some breakfast food. She likes both types so Peter can choose what he likes and she'll eat the other.
Once they have everything and they're ready to go, Darcy heads out of town and then asks, "so what got you into photography?"
You're better at that than an actual ice pick! Good timing, pal. I'm just about wrapped up dealing with this paperwork, and then I won't have anything to do really until later! Sounds like a good time for a date.
They're not wrong. You make sure people get the point! :D
We could do it either way, really! If yoi got ideas, I'm interested in seeing what you've got up your sleeve! It's hard to imagine me not liking your ideas. Hit me with your worst shot, pal!
Well, they're less on my sleeve and more on the side of the road. I think, at least. How do you feel about a little competition? There's a cider doughnut eating contest at an orchard nearby...
[ Plus, they could maybe pick some pumpkins or do the corn field maze or something else together... that might be fun! ]
I feel great about that! That's one of the best ideas there is, pal! If you're okay going up against a champ, that is! I'll happily go nuts with some doughnuts!
[ The day had arrived. Iris doesn't think "finally" because she understands and has understood since the beginning that cooperating meant potential risks and led to certain consequences which would be unavoidable. As she agreed to from the start and has stated under oath, she willingly took the risk. Sins committed needed to be paid for and she had been more than prepared with payment. She never figured before that she could be so brave or daring in the face of something as indomitable as the law, but given the circumstances, she had forgone any hesitation or timidity for her own sake, for the sake of those around her and involved, and for her sake, if anything. Her acquaintances who became her friends, all with the same resolve and determination for good, for the pursuit of truth and justice, helped her recognize her own resolve. She never figured before that she could be so brave to confess at the very end in front of everyone, especially to the one person who needed to hear it the most. But she willingly took the risk.
So as her thoughts are drifting from one memory to another, she can and has never let go of that person who carried so much on his shoulders. The whole world, it seemed, and everyone else's burdens as well. And yet he has never grown tired of it nor ever complained, only gained strength from having that responsibility placed on him or taken on by him. It isn't as though she had never seen him again after that fateful trial. No, he and their shared friends had been more than generous with their time with her, stopping by to visit on different occasions, including any significant anniversaries, and she was so grateful for their support and kindness. It's more than she has deserved, and that she also understands. Ever since her tenure here, she had that resolve that once she was able, she would begin to repay everyone. She has been their debt.
It's also more than she deserves that that special someone is the one who is coming to greet her now that she has been granted her freedom. Her heart beats quicker with anticipation because it will be the first time in a long time that she'll truly see him face to face without any barriers, shields, or locks in the way. She realizes that all the time she had spent with him as part of that elaborate plan combined with the time during the trial... was less than the time she had spent detained. He's never faltered at being by her side or being there whenever she needed him. She needs to do the same for him. That's also part of her resolve.
And on a day like this, a little cool, gray, and rainy, she wonders if he's still taking care of himself. Is he eating well, staying warm, getting enough rest, all the things he should be doing in order to continue to fight for others. Because if he isn't strong or looking after himself, then he can't assist others, a lesson he has learned before. He shouldn't have to shoulder that burden on his own though... But she will have her questions answered soon enough, and the thought makes her smile slightly to herself. He'll be here to help allay her concerns and worries.
Her papers have been signed and her belongings like her cell phone have been returned to her. When asked if anyone was coming to pick her up after her release, she replied softly that there was someone. With that, she had been told she could sit and wait in the lobby area of the detention center until they arrived. The rain isn't heavy but it has been persistent since early morning. But she doesn't mind either, the waiting or the rain. Maybe it's meant to be that she's made him wait many times over before and now she has to wait for him, taking a seat near a window, where she could see the rain outside. Maybe it's meant to be that it would rain today as a sign that she'll be able to clean the slate for new or renewed beginnings. ]
[Ever since that fateful trial, not a day went by that she hasn't weighed on his mind. That shocking truth which changed so much about how he perceived his past. All these years, he's carried the sting of Dahlia's betrayal and hurt confusion over how it all went wrong. But now, he knows that there's two people. And Iris - she is the one who truly cared for him. All of his positive memories of that relationship were all her.
Of course, that didn't make everything clean-cut. Iris was still complicit in Dahlia's deceptions - and more recently in Godot's murderous plan. It wasn't as if she was pure or devoid of sin, but at the very least she would see justice for that. Some might have thought he was foolish for continuing to think of her or wanting to meet her, but Phoenix didn't care if it was logical or not. All he knew was he wanted to see her again - to give her a chance. Once the time came for her to begin her new life after paying her debt to society, he knew that he would be there for her.
And once the time came, the day that she was free, he volunteered to come for her. Thankfully, he thought to bring an umbrella. He came up in a cab that he had rented out for the day. Thankfully, his wallet is a bit heavier now that Maya's away.
As he steps out from the cab, he opens his umbrella and trudges through the rain towards the front door of the detention center. A small, hopeful smile decorates his face as he approaches.]
[ Her hands are folded neatly in her lap, but she does bring them up occasionally to gently blow on them since the weather is a little chilly. Perhaps she shouldn't have sat so close to the window but even being in the lobby area where other visitors would wait to see those being held here at this facility was more freedom than she had had fifteen minutes ago. And being by the window reminded her of how close she was to being back in that world. She's always done her best to see the good and positive side in the world while knowing that the polar opposite exists. It had existed all too close to her, the latter she thinks, but she knows that that optimistic, idealistic side is much stronger now, thanks to the person who radiated that positivity.
Iris sees that cab pull up and her heart beats a little faster again.
He's here.
She smiles, a mix of pure happiness, nostalgia, but with a light touch of melancholy brought on from the thought that she really had troubled him. He was no doubt extremely busy, and he was taking that time--which had to be so precious to him because of how little of it he must have of it nowadays--to see her. She understood that it was agreed upon that he would be here... But still, she's reminded again of how privileged and lucky she is to have someone like him there for her. He was there for her in spirit for a long time, and now he would be here in person. Not everyone had second chances like this one. She's forever grateful.
Iris rises to her feet and gives the receptionist a small bow of her head as thanks. She goes over to the entrance door and takes a breath. This would be it. No need to return here as someone who would need to stay and atone for past sins. Atonement outside in the world was inevitable, but she wouldn't have to be here any longer to do that. And maybe she should have waited for him, yet if he's come all this way after waiting, as she thought before, she can't have him wait any longer than he has to for her.
With another soft intake of breath and slow exhale out, Iris gently pushes the front door open, and is saved for now from the rain with the short covered walkway overhead. The smile she had on her face before no longer had any trace of that melancholy because how could it, now that she's seen him approaching, but she can't help feeling a light stinging in her eyes. She promises it isn't sadness but just the overwhelming feeling of... It's that same happiness, joy, and warmth that can banish away any chill in the inclement weather around them.
He's here. He really is. She wants to be here with him, too. ]
... Hello... Feenie.
[ Her voice leaves almost on the ends of her breath, but if anyone in the world could hear her, he's the only one who ever has. ]
[He's wearing a coat over casual clothing, yet he still feels a little chill in the air. Likely from the rain. (Talk about the worst timing for a rainy day). The downpour felt oppressive, and Phoenix almost felt like it was meant to be an omen, but he refused to take it as such. Today has to be a new beginning.
As he approaches, the door opens, and there she is. His breath leaves him for a moment, and he feels a unique softness in his heart. A feeling he's only ever felt around her. The feeling only intensifies as he hears that name again 'Feenie'. A nickname known cleansed from having been tainted by Dahlia. Hearing it being said by Iris, it increases that feeling of warmth running through him. It's reflected in a tender smile that crosses his face, as he raises the umbrella to invite her under its protection.]
Hey there. [He softly breathes her name.] Iris.
[He dismisses the part of his brain that still wants to say 'Dollie'. This is different now. He recognizes her for who she is - the person who truly cared for him, someone distinct from Dollie. Now the name of Iris is cemented in his heart.]
It's good - I'm happy to see you. [He revises his sentence awkwardly mid-speech.] Are you ready? ...I mean, not to rush you or anything! I just... don't want to keep you in the rain.
[ A similar thought passes through her mind like a momentary shooting star across the sky. She had been addressed by a different name for so long, had to pretend to be someone else while simultaneously being herself at the same time, had to balance two sides... And now to hear her real name when she has no need to pretend anymore makes Iris feel that much more real herself, grounded in this new beginning that is blooming before her, perhaps appropriately so.
Iris might not have strong spiritual powers or prowess but she fully believes that Phoenix does, even if he may be so humble as to deny it. But he is magical in his own way because he speaks and smiles and it's as if all this time hadn't really passed. They get to pick up where they left off and he has made that happen, even so far as to be as considerate as he's ever been with the way he chooses his words with her. See, he really is magical. She thinks that while he does everything he can to welcome and look out for her, she will have to do the same to ease his heart in the same way. ]
I'm ready if you are, too.
[ Iris smiles, a light blush spreading along her cheeks as she nods gently. She hesitates slightly, not because she doesn't want to be with him but from that lingering, leftover feeling that she's troubling him. A second later, she does take that step closer to join him under that umbrella, hearing the rain pitter-pattering above them more now. She looks up to meet his eyes, those eyes that are warm and bright like the sun. They manage to make her forget the downpour around them. ]
... Thank you... for coming to get me. I hope that... I haven't inconvenienced you.
[ So much for trying to comfort him. But the flipside of it, she believes, is that she can at least share what's in her own heart since he does deserve the transparency and her true sincerity. She can't have and doesn't want to have secrets kept from him any longer. She only worries because the world hadn't waited for her as it progressed onward as time never stops for anyone, and he must have so much going on as well in that world... but then again, he is magical and has easily defied something as cosmic as time because he's waited for her. ]
[And there she is. Phoenix can feel the air getting warmer as she draws closer, staving off the chill in the air. She's really here, right in front of him, looking just as she did when he last saw her. And even before that - her hair color may be different from the olden days, but from looking into her eyes, he can still see the same cold soul.
He answers her with a nervous laugh.]
Of course not! Trust me, I have an open schedule. And - and I like doing this a lot better than anything else I could have done with this day.
[His cheeks grow rosier as he looks at her. And he feels nervous. Should he hold her hand? Would that be okay? He just doesn't know.]
Come on, them. I... can take you somewhere to eat first. If you'd like! [He's sure that she could really use some real food. And it would be a good chance for them to talk!]
[ Iris should have figured that Phoenix would be feeling a little bit of uneasiness as well. This situation is new though circumstances make it strangely familiar at the same time, and the juxtaposition would lead to that same little bit of awkwardness that hangs in the air like the coolness from the rain. But being close to him, she feels that warmth that they share which does wonders--because of course, magic--to stave off some of that nervousness.
To think that he did clear his schedule for her like this. She wonders how much she deserves this kindness after everything, but then again, she shouldn't question it because she wants to take everything he says as the truth. He deserves that from her, of course, after everything.
She smiles, her own cheeks turning pink when he displays even more kindness to her, the offer to spend more time together instead of simply taking her home. Though she has the thought that... wherever he is, that's like home to her, too. It makes her blush a touch more, and she unclasps her hands from out of her normal signature pose, taking a chance to lightly brush away a few raindrops from his shoulder that must have made their way there before he was able to open the umbrella when he exited the taxi. ]
I'd like that. Whatever you choose, I don't mind.
[ She hopes that makes it a bit easier on him, and he's right, real food out in the real world is something she hadn't realized she would look forward to as much as she does now. She'll give him the honors of selecting where they go to celebrate her first meal with her newfound freedom. ]
[It does have that feeling of starting over again - and it's a feeling that extends to feeling like he's asking her out on a first date all over again. Not that he wants to assume this will be like a date. He feels they have to talk to each other to figure out where they stand, but he can't ignore how he still feels his heart flutter in her presence.]
Good. I figured after... well, all that, one of the first things you'd want is a good meal.
[(I'm sure Sister Bikini won't let her go hungry, but I'm sure some time out in a normal place will be good for her too.)
Then she mentions that she feels happy, and he finds himself blushing in response. He didn't expect to hear something like that so quickly! He smiles softly as he looks at her, standing close under the umbrella.]
S-so am I. I really wanted to-
[He's cut off by a strong gust of wind, one powerful enough to make the umbrella turn inside-out and knock it out of Phoenix's hands! Leaving them at the mercy of the downpour for the moment.]

You got some time off where we can grab a bite to eat soon? Workload is light on my end.
no subject
Good timing, pal. I'm just about wrapped up dealing with this paperwork, and then I won't have anything to do really until later!
Sounds like a good time for a date.
no subject
Oh, you're going to take me out? Or you want to leave this one to me? Because I have some ideas.
I just can't promise you'll like them all.
no subject
We could do it either way, really!
If yoi got ideas, I'm interested in seeing what you've got up your sleeve!
It's hard to imagine me not liking your ideas. Hit me with your worst shot, pal!
no subject
Well, they're less on my sleeve and more on the side of the road. I think, at least.
How do you feel about a little competition? There's a cider doughnut eating contest at an orchard nearby...
[ Plus, they could maybe pick some pumpkins or do the corn field maze or something else together... that might be fun! ]
no subject
If you're okay going up against a champ, that is!
I'll happily go nuts with some doughnuts!

For @bewrightback

no subject
I just... don't want to keep you in the rain.
no subject
no subject
He answers her with a nervous laugh.]
Of course not! Trust me, I have an open schedule. And - and I like doing this a lot better than anything else I could have done with this day.
[His cheeks grow rosier as he looks at her. And he feels nervous. Should he hold her hand? Would that be okay? He just doesn't know.]
Come on, them. I... can take you somewhere to eat first. If you'd like! [He's sure that she could really use some real food. And it would be a good chance for them to talk!]
no subject
... Thank you. I'm... really happy right now.
no subject
