PSL: Dinner with Daisy (for hearshisvoice)
[At long last, the time had come! The time he had both been looking forward to and dreading! The day on which Daisy would come to see the houseboat. Like a true date! So he's pulled out all the stops for this occasion. He has his suit on! He's cleaned up the place as much as he can! He's been preparing dinner, and also most importantly, he's gone through every measure to make sure his family and pretty much everyone else in the mansion is away for the day. Maybe he can get through this without embarrassment! It's only a little weird to have to tell a date to specifically go to Scrooge McDuck's pool for a date.
When the time comes, he's ready! But there's no sign of Daisy, not yet. Although he doesn't realize that without anyone else around, there's no one to open the manor's front gate...]

Wait, no, that would be a bit much, wouldn't it? Then maybe she should go simple yet classy? Okay, good start, but then—
By the evening of the date, her apartment had clothes strewn all over the place and at one point she even considered sewing a new one until she finally found a two piece she could just make a few alterations to. It's not like she's trying to impress Donald, but...yeah, okay, maybe a little. It doesn't help that she hasn't prepared for a date in a very long time and while she feels a bit silly for having some nerves, the fluttering in her stomach as she clutches her purse and stares up at the gates of McDuck manor refused to settle.]
Come on, Daisy, it's just a date. ...A date with a guy who is the nephew of the richest duck in the world and has gone on grand adventures and is better than anyone you've ever met, but none of that matters. Just take a deep breath... —!
[It's at this point of her quiet muttering that she happens to glance over and notice the intercom. Frantically she looks around to see if there's a camera and she hopes to whatever grand deity is out there that no one saw or heard her just now. After once again swallowing her nerves, she takes a deep breath and pushes the button on the intercom before waiting.
...And waiting.
.............And waiting—]
Um...hello? [A nervous question as she steps closer before frowning and pressing the button.] Hi, this is Daisy Duck to meet Donald? ...Anyone there?
Is no one watching the gate...?
[After a few more minutes of silence, she pulls out her phone and tries to call Donald.]
no subject
His heart is racing at full speed as his eyes dart around, looking for any sign of Daisy's approach. She should be here now! ...Right? Except there's no sign of her. Did she finally realize she could do better than him and call the whole thing off?! ...No, no, that doesn't sound like Daisy. Even if she did realize that, she wouldn't ditch him without a word.
It takes him a few moments to realize that it's not just his nerves making him shake. His phone is vibrating! Desperately as if reaching for some life-saving antidote, he reaches for his phone... and then spends a moment or two fumbling as it nearly slips out of his fingers, before he finally manages to grip it and desperately answers.]
Hello, Daisy? What's wrong? Are you okay? Are- are you stuck in traffic??
no subject
No, I'm fine...but I am stuck in front of the gates. [She looks back up at them before pushing the button on the intercom.] I'm not sure if the intercom is working or not.
no subject
He has the phone pressed tightly against the side of his head as he soaks up each word. He's worried, but also it's a treat to just hear her voicr again.]
What, you're at the gates?! Why isn't anyone letting you... in...? [His words slow down as the facts sink in, and he lets out a distressed squawk.]
Oh no!! There's no one there! I'm so sorry, Daisy! I'll get you in right away!
[With that, he rushes back to the mansion! He only ends up tripping and falling on his face three times before he gets to the gate controls and sets it to open. Then he hurries back to his starting position by the boat, tripping only twice on the return trip! Now he looks a little scuffes up, and he's started to build up a sweat. But he's ready now! Or he sure hopes he is.]
no subject
What, no one's there—?
[But before she could finish asking, he's already gone and possibly rushing over to her?? She can somewhat hear some sounds from the other side and she tries to peer closer but by the time she steps forward the gates have opened.]
Oh... Um... Donald?
[Just a tentative call as she takes a few steps through. She actually expected (and maybe hoped) to see him there, but it's just a cloud of dust. It's...actually kind of creepy. Is there really no one here..??
She takes another few steps, unable to help looking around in awe and curiosity. Sure she's seen pictures, but actually stepping onto McDuck Manor?? No one would believe her.
However, there is still one problem that Donald overlooked, and he's going to find that out when she calls him.]
So...which way do I go to the pool?
[She's heard rumors of traps, okay, and this place is huge. She's already hesitant to hang around the central fountain in case it does something.]
no subject
There's always at least one problem being overlooked by Donald at any given point in time. In any case, he'd quick to answer her!]
Oh right! Silly me. Sorry... You'll have to come around the side of the house that's on your right hand side, and then you can't miss it.
But be careful! [He feels like he's talking her through some death-defying stunt.] If you see any loose change or any x's marked on the ground, don't touch them! They're booby trapped! I'm here if you have any problems. [He's really starting to feel like maybe he should have escorted her there! But hopefully she'll make it to their date in one piece.]
no subject
Besides, she's a grown, independent woman and she doesn't want to leave a bad impression on him. She can handle a few things that might pop out, right?
...Probably.
Anyway, she'll hastily clear her throat.]
Er, I mean I should be able to handle it. But next time you're leaving a map.
[There's a light chuckle as she then hangs up and takes a breath.
You can do this, Daisy, and there's a path right there. Just stay on it and everything should be okay.
Determination set, she sets forth and keeps a careful eye on the ground while taking occasional glances around. It's her first time here, after all, so despite the dangers she can't help but be a little curious. The place could use some more flowers, though...
Anyway, as their luck tends to be, when she's just a few feet away from the pool area, Daisy is momentarily distracted and accidentally trips over something. The next thing Donald will hear is a surprised yell not too far away and should he investigate...
Daisy is nowhere to be seen.]
no subject
Of- of course! [That's all he gets out as she hangs up. Maybe he should have tried to meet her at the gate or something? But he has faith in her, he knows she'll find him in no time at all!
Except then, what he hears is a yell. And he's pretty sure he knows whose yell that is! In a panic, Donald rushes forward in the direction of the shout.]
Daisy?! [He exclaims with a panic and looks around wildly in each direction.] Daisy, where are you?!
no subject
But just as she's at least sitting up, she hears Donald beneath her and there's relief as well as embarrassment.]
Donald! I'm up—
[She stops and quickly shouts at him.]
Don't look up!!!
[She's in a dress after all!!]
no subject
Sorry! I- I didn't see anything! [He says with a nervous squawk.]
Are you okay?! Let me get you down from there! [His eyes still covered, he blindly steps forward to seek out the rope that can release the net.]
no subject
O-okay!
[But wait, if he blindly pulls the rope and it releases, who's going to catch her??]
Wait—!
no subject
I- I got it!
[What is there to wait for? He's got it! Donald then gives it a good yank, such that he ends up staggering backwards. Right beneath Daisy's net as it's dropped!]
no subject
[And down comes Daisy. Hope he doesn't mind beigg a cushion for her fall!]
no subject
[And down comes Donald, onto the ground beneath her. Flustered and stunned, he's practically seeing stars right now.]
...Welcome... to McDuck Manor...
no subject
Oh, Donald!! [On her knees beside him with her hands on his poor head and back.] I'm so sorry, are you all right!?
no subject
Are you an angel...? [Then he blinks some more, feeling the warmth of her hands on his head and back, and he nervously squawks as he snaps back to reality.]
I- I'm okay! But what about you?
1/2
2/2
Yes, I'm fine. A bit surprised, but it would have been worse if you hadn't been there.
no subject
Good! I'm just glad you're alright. I'm sorry I messed this up before it even began.
no subject
I admit I wasn't expecting getting stuck in a trap on a first date, but you did warn me and I was careless. I stepped off the path to look at some of the flower bushes over there.
[A slight glance over to said bushes.]
no subject
One of them must have been an am-bush. [He says with a sage nod, and then he looks towards Daisy.]
I should been a guide for you from the beginning. [Now he brings himself back up to his feet and reaches for Daisy's hand.] Come on, I'll lead you the rest of the way!
no subject
Normally she'd roll her eyes, but here she can't help giggle a little before she takes his hand, straightening her dress and brushing off some of the dust and dirt with her free hand as she does.]
It's all right, I'm more surprised there wasn't anyone around instead. Don't you guys have any butlers or anything.
[are they still holding hands]no subject
That's good! Uh, and sorry. Everyone else is kinda out for the evening.
[There's a chance Duckworth might be around, because spirits live by their own schedule. But Donald hasn't spotted the specter at all yet this evening, so maybe he decided to let them have some privacy.
He blushes some more as she takes his hand. He certainly won't let go anytime soon, as he's ready to walk her towards the houseboat. But first, he has to actually move. That's a bit difficult right now! Now that she's standing up
and no longer dangling in a net, he's getting a good look at her for the first time tonight. A smile melts onto his beak as he looks at her.]A-anyway... you look great! Another nice dress!
no subject
Guess we won't have to worry about weird onlookers trying to spy on us then. [Just a little teasing smile. She has nieces, she knows how that can go.
But then he's just standing there staring at her and...oh. Oh. The way he smiles and his compliment, as simple as it was, somehow makes her heart flutter and a light blush creep up her cheeks as she glances away a little, feeling strangely shy. It's not the first time she's been complimented, but why does it make her feel giddy hearing it from him!?]
O-Oh...you like it? [SHE'S SO GLAD SHE SPENT SO MUCH TIME PREPARING— But now it's her turn to get a good look at him.] You look good as well, Donald.
[And is it just the way the moonlight is hitting them or is he really that handsome at night? Daisy Duck get a grip on yourself!]
no subject
Donald laughs nervously.]
R-right. ...We can just have fun without worrying about anyone else!
[Donald is all too happy to dispense compliments. Especially with how Daisy takes them to heart! It helps Donald's heart to swell with joy. Not only does she understand him, but she really seems to respect and value his opinion!
As she turns the compliments back on him, now he gets bashful and ducks his head.]
O-oh, I do? Even though it got a little dirty... thanks Daisy.
[With his free hand, he briefly reaches up to try to hastily wipe some of the dirt from his clothes.]
