Over the past few months, Peter had been readjusting to once again being the one and only Spider-Man. This came with trying to get his life together, to limited success. He managed to reconnect with Mary Jane; ultimately, things did not work out, although this time their parting was more amicable. And he had been trying to get back in shape, though he wasn't quite all the way there. But there was no better way to exercise than hitting the streets and looking for criminals to tangle with.

He had been idly webslinging from building to building, as he had no leads to follow at the moment. His rogues gallery was quiet for the time being. Eventually, his spider senses went off as he neared one abandoned storage facility. Looking down, he spotted someone lying on the ground. That certainly looked concerning! So he swung down to land right beside the fallen man. He leaned over him, and his stomach was practically twisting as he beheld that stab wound. Not only was this man dead, but this was no ordinary killing. There's no time to spend mourning the stranger; Peter shot up to his feet and looked around to examine the circumstances. He had fallen right outside that storage facility, which looked like a prime hiding spot for danger... and no effort had been made to hide the body, so the killer must have been in a hurry. Maybe he could still catch him.

The front door might have been right there, but that was not Spider-Man's style. Rather, he quickly crawled his way up the wall towards one of those windows. There's nothing he could admire more than a nice, big, open window! He crawled right in through one and then up along the ceiling, while trying to get a good luck at everything happening below. And especially for any signs of their enemy...
