My history of writing things on the internet starts in the early 00s, when I took part in these forum-based stories known as OnGoing Stories. They were like spin-a-yarn stories written in forum thread form, and they were all over the place in terms of quality and originality. They were alive for around a decade, and a number of them even formed a convoluted continuity of multiple timelines, although our community was very small and dwindled down to nothing over the years. However, there were some online friends who I first through the OGs who would later also be part of the world of DWRP: Masa and Sapphire, the former of whom was my gateway to journal RP in general.
- The name 'Gore' originates from when I first joined the video gaming forums where the OGs were hosted. As a preteen who was in a capslock phase, I thought 'GORE-ILLA' would be a cool handle. ...And over the years it condensed down to just 'Gore'.
- My first journal RP stint was in 2007, when Masa was recruiting people to join a new RP game he was starting, Subspace RP, based on the story mode of the then-upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl (we OGers were primarily united by being Nintendo trash at the time). The first character I tried was Geno from Super Mario RPG, although I got bored of him quickly and started to realize what did and didn't work for me in RP. The game had a very small player base that never really grew and no activity requirements, so the character limit kept on raising until I had 10+ characters, although they weren't especially active. The game lasted about a year before it died out, and then I returned to focusing on OGs until they died out too.
- With the decline of the OGs over the years, that eventually led to me missing RP and wanting to give it another try. I did manage to find out through other online friends that both Masa and Sapph were at a place called Luceti. And after like a year of missing app cycles and going back-and-forth on the decision, I finally entered the world of DWRP by apping Aang into Luceti in March 2012. His personalty wound up being very fun, refreshing and easy to play with, which helped me to settle into the game and build up investment in RP. Luceti was my home game for its last three years, and Aang was my main muse for that time period.
- I started trying out new games on the side with Haven in 2014. With Luceti's end, Cerealia became my next home game, with Rock Lee becoming my next main muse while my Aang muse quietly inched towards retirement. Cerealia eventually ended as well in 2016, and with that Lee was mostly retired. Dangan Ronpa and Steven Universe have now become my main RPing canons.
